The New Moon........
.....sometimes seems to suck something out of me. And from time to time, leaving me feeling in the dumps. It's waxing again like this, which I used to call it a "fingernail moon" when I was a kid.
And for some reason I feel much better.

Is the grey glow in the first picture a bit of 'Earthshine'? Or perhaps some other artifact of low-light photography.
I would love to do astronomical photography, if I didn't live in the middle of the city.

Dunno Flash. I just copy and pasted the original photo. I've actually done some photos of the stars and they look like pinpricks on black.
Have to photoshop them a little afterwards and then one wonders if they are stars or phantom white pixels!
Too cloudy up here tonight to try it.
